I am so in love right now.

How cute are these measuring cups?

When I set my sights on writing a post about cool foodie chotchtke, the first place I thought of was Hungry Bunny, an adorable store on Polk street that also sells their fantastic stuff on their web site, but the first place I went to online, was Fred & Friends, another favorite. I perused Fred’s catalog and on every page, I repeated in mantric style, ” want that and that and that and that and that, oh and that too.” Folks, if Fred and friends were located in SF, I might just switch careers in order to be around the creators of these awesome products.” Not to toot my own horn, but I actually thought of a few of these before they existed… toot toot.

I highly recommend you look at their catalog as these few items are just the tip of the iceberg. I want it ALL! I don’t understand, however, why they have an archaic flip catalog for their products. I will alert you when their new sit is up.

The disclaimer. I am not usually a lover of tchotchke for the sake of it, but if something appeals to me visually, makes me feel something and might actually be useful, then…

Measuring Matroyshkas, Set of 6 Dry Measuring CupsShown above. How cute are these measuring cups. I would be happy to display on my counter.

Store-M’s: Tupperware who? Who doesn’t love a babushka? They call them Matroyshkas, which is probably the real name.

Fred Mix Stix spoons: I do have these and I sometimes break into rock band mode and play my air drums while cooking. Thank you Margarita!

HUNGRY BUNNY!

I was running, and I am not quoting Forest Gump, when I spotted a plush chicken in a store front and was stopped in my sweaty tracks. I walked inside, almost moneyless and was overtaken by all the fun foodie stuff. The plush chicken has removable legs and they also had a plush banana with removable banana that I bought two of with all of the money that I had on me. This is a fun and amazing store with something for the whole foodie family. They have little crocheted veggie hats for babies that are made by the owner’s mother. I will be buying a few soon for friends. If you don’t live in SF, you are in luck because they have a web site! Woo hoo. Here are some photos of the cool plush food. They also sell books, games, decor and anything your foodieness desires.

To end this tasty post, I will say that there are a lot of new places to get cool and original foodie gifts. Fab.com is really cool, but their sales only last a few days, so I don’t want to show you cool stuff that you might not be able to get by the time you read this. Check it out though!

  1. Those spoon/drumsticks are unbelievably cool. I just spent ages looking at various incarnations of them on the UK Amazon before realising that, if I actually got them, my drummer boyfriend would use them all the time and I’d slowly but surely start to hate him.
